Something Sustainable
by Nyana Nyana Eco

Something Sustainable is a multi-brand store managed by Nyana Nyana Eco. The store features local and regional sustainable fashion designers as permanent showcases, along with up-and-coming brands in weekly pop-ups and eco-friendly workshops. Nyana Nyana Eco is a Singapore-based social enterprise (raiSE) with a mission to make sustainable fashion more accessible. We empower artisans, reduce textile industry waste, and preserve low-energy heritage pattern-making techniques and indigenous natural dyeing practices. Nyana Nyana Eco also partners with eco-friendly brands, many of which are women-led small businesses.

Meet the Founder/ Brand story

Clara Simanjuntak is the founder of Something Sustainable and Nyana Nyana Eco. Trained as an architect and transitioning into fashion design, she experienced a serious illness that led her to discover the health benefits of organic fabrics, which, like organic food, positively impact the well-being of those who wear them. Nyana Nyana Eco is a Singapore-based eco fashion brand and social enterprise (raiSE) since 2019, features certified eco-fabric, natural dye, and low-energy traditional pattern making, and also uses pre-consumer textile waste.

With Nyana Nyana she achieved some prestigious projects includes Design Orchard Staff uniform, winning the Singtel Sustainable Uniform project for their 313 flagship store, which earned the company (Singtel) Retail Asia Sustainable Initiative Award. She was also one of five Singapore designers selected to exhibit at The Earthshot Prize 2023. Additionally, the company collaborated with Mandai Wildlife reserve on sustainable merchandise and with Amazon on swag items.

As a mother, she is driven to create a movement in sustainable fashion with the future generation in mind. Since August 2024, Nyana Nyana Eco has been managing Something Sustainable at 102 Tanjong Pagar Road, a retail store with a mission to make sustainable fashion more accessible and to help small, sustainable brands establish an offline presence—something that can be challenging for emerging brands in Singapore.
